Consumed
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Saturday afternoon I was outside and just enjoying the beautiful day God had blessed us with and I got to thinking about this verse. I was looking around and so thankful for all God has blessed me with as well as enjoying His beautiful creation. I then began to think about all the people that just don’t enjoy life due to all the worry and lack of joy in their lives. They are just consumed with the world. Too often we can become consumed with:
-World’s wishes
we are more interested in satisfying the world than God
-World’s worries
we’ve become a society that is worried about everything
-World’s wisdom
we believe more on the evening news and draw more from that than we do God’s Word
-World’s ways
Numbers 16:26 And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.
we can’t follow the Lord and the world
Instead we need to be consumed with:
-God’s steps
Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
He can lead us better than no other
-God’s scriptures
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
-God’s serenity or calmness
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
When we have His peace that’s when we enjoy life to it’s fullest the way He means for us to.
-God’s salvation
2 Samuel 22:47 The Lord liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation.
He is our rock that we can stand on if we will surrender our entire being to Him!!
When we get consumed by the things of God, then we have no room for the worldly things that can weigh us down and keep us from the life wants us to live!
John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
Just be consumed with Him today!
