June 14 Devotion: Absence Will Cost You

Absence Will Cost You

John 20:25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.

Doubting Thomas as he is commonly called. One thing that could have possibly kept us from knowing him mostly as doubting Thomas. If he had just simply been present!!

John 20:24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.

Had Thomas been where he should’ve been when Jesus showed himself to His disciples then there’s a good chance we don’t know him today as doubting. There are times we go through things that God gave us the answer in a message preached at church. Big problem is that we weren’t there. Think about that person in your family, on the job, possibly even a neighbor. You never know how close they could be to going to church or asking questions, only to have you just stay home. They might’ve even showed up and you was nowhere to be found. How can they see the importance if it’s not important enough for us to show? Schools don’t like for kids to miss school, because missing 1 class can get them behind, and you never know the importance of what’s being taught that you are missing. How much more important is it then for us to be in our place at church? God didn’t put this verse in His Word for no reason:

Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is ; but exhorting one another : and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

We should be looking forward to the next time we get to be in God’s house. Or are you already making up, or looking for excuses not to attend a service?

God bless you today!
