June 14 Devotion: Availability

Availability

Genesis 22:1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.

Ever been going through a tough time and find it hard to find those “friends” to talk to? Seems like we can have all kinds of people around when things are going well. However, let something go wrong and it can become increasingly difficult to find that person to talk to. What about when God calls on us? It’s easy to tell the preacher that you want to be involved. We can go to the altar and ask God to use us. We can say we’d be willing to go and do anything and that we just want to be used. What about when that call truly comes? What if God calls you to preach? What if He was to call you to be a missionary to another country? It could even be something as simple as being burdened to go across the street and share the Gospel. There is no greater blessing to be used of God to do anything in His name! Do we answer the same way here as Abraham? Would we answer Here am I Lord? Would we then go just as Abraham did when taking Isaac to sacrifice as the Lord instructed? We can talk all we want, but are we truly available when God calls on us?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
