June 15 Devotion: The Leading of the Shepherd

The Leading of the Shepherd

Psalm 23:2-3

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. [3] He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

What a blessing to have a Savior that's so concerned about you, that he wants to guide your every step of the way. Where would we be if God left us to plan our lives for ourselves? We would only have the flesh to depend on for the direction we would go. The best the flesh can offer is a life void of God. In our text, the shepherd leads by the still waters. That’s a picture of peace, and there is no peace without God. The world is looking and longing for peace, but they look in the wrong place. In drugs and alcohol, and different relationships, but that will not bring peace, only destruction. The Lord leads in the path of righteousness. We would never choose that path without the involvement of the Lord Jesus. Without the guidance of the Lord Jesus, we would be committed to all the filth of the world. That's why the Bible says all things become new. I'm glad that God loves me enough to take me by the hand and lead me around like a little child, because I don't have the ability to make the right decisions for myself.

May God bless you,

Bro. Ron Little
