June 26 Devotion: A New Thing

A New Thing

Isaiah 43:19 [19] Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

I had someone mention this verse to me the other day and I’ve just not been able to get it off my heart since. You ever been blessed to buy a new car, and just enjoy that “new car” smell for awhile? Maybe you’ve gotten new tools, new golf clubs, or went shopping for new clothes or something? We all enjoy getting new things! If we all enjoy new worldly things, how much more would we enjoy a new thing that God could do for us? Think about what He says in this verse. After alluding to a new thing He then talks about just a couple things He can do. “Make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” There are new things He can do for us collectively as a church. However, what about that new thing for you individually? When we purchase something new it’s typically for our own satisfaction and enjoyment. We can share it somewhat with others, but for the most part it’s for us to experience. What new thing would you like God to do for you as we head into another week of revival? Maybe you’re like me and you’d like to smell Him walk thorough. You could want to hear Him in the leaves down at the rock altar. There could be a prayer request you’ve been faithful to pray for and this could be the week He answers that request. Instead of just asking Him to bless us this week(He’s already blessed us far more than we deserve) what if we instead asked Him to do a new thing in our midst?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
