Better Than A Champion
1 Samuel 17:51
Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.
Over the past week or so, a new NBA and NHL champion has been crowned. The thing about those champions is that most of the time, a new one is crowned each year. Yes, some years one might repeat, but it is rare nowadays. Sometimes you can even have a champion that the following year is terrible. A champion on this world is made to be defeated.
The Philistines here had put all their beliefs in an earthly champion. Regardless of the size of Goliath, David was still able to defeat him. We know that it wasn’t because of who David was, but because of the God he served. That same God that David served is hopefully the same God that you serve. God isn’t a champion the way we think. He’s the King of kings and Lord of lords! Our God is the God that’s never been defeated! As a matter of fact, He’s never even been challenged!
I say all that to point this out. You serve a God that is victorious over anything you may be facing today! No matter what comes our way, God can give us victory over it. God gave David a victory over a giant that the rest of the nation was afraid of and thought they couldn’t overcome. Whatever it is you’re battling today, just give it to Him and watch Him give you the victory over it!
God bless,
Bro. Josh Richardson
