A Light For Your Path
Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
While on vacation we were told to stay as late as we could at the Grand Canyon in order to see all the stars when it gets pitch black out. It is said that any lights that are there are pointing down in order to minimize any light pollution in the sky. This allows you to see a spectacular sky full of stars at night.
The same thing applies to God’s Word. If we will spend time studying and applying it to our lives then it too can be a light in our lives in a dark world. We live in a dark and evil world full of lies and entanglements. Each step we take there are circumstances looking to trip us up and cause us to fall. Each day we are faced with decisions that will have a big impact on the person we are going forward. When we’ve studied and applied God’s Word we can then use that to lighten our steps in each decision we make.
We can have a flashlight in the middle of the woods at night, but if the batteries are in our pocket then that flashlight is worthless. We can study the Bible for multiple hours everyday, and listen to preaching and teaching until our ears bleed so to speak. If we don’t apply it to our lives then it does us no good.
I’m sure that sky at the Grand Canyon is spectacular, but I don’t know because we didn’t stay that long. I listened to what I was told, but didn’t apply it and hang around till it was that dark out.
What’s lighting your path today? The world or His Word?
God bless you today!
