June 6 Devotion: On Our Side

On Our Side

Romans 8:31

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

When we think of the world today, it’s easy to understand that the world is against us. The world isn’t interested in Christ. However, when it comes to friends, family, coworkers, etc., it becomes harder to deal with when we feel like even they are against us. When we get in those situations, that’s when it feels like truly everything is against us. Those situations can be tough to deal with. We need a good reminder of what our text verse represents.

The phrase “If God be for us” is not conditional but affirmative, implying God is indeed on the side of those who trust Him. This assurance stems from God’s unchanging nature and His redemptive work through Christ. The follow-up, “Who can be against us?” dismisses any opposition—human, spiritual, or circumstantial—as ultimately powerless. No force, whether satan, sin, or suffering, can thwart God’s plan for us.

Trust in Gods omnipotence and never forget that God is the majority. If we’ve put our trust in Him, then it doesn’t matter who or what may come against us, because the Lord is for us, and that’s all that matters.

God bless,

Bro. Josh Richardson
