Gods Way is Better!
Exodus 13:17-18 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt: [18] But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.
We see here the path that God had set before Moses and the people as they were led out of Egypt. It talks about that it wasn’t the nearest way for them to get out. Ever look at your life and ask God why you are on the path you are on? We discussed last week about allowing God to guide our steps. There may be times when we don’t understand where He is leading us. It’s not always for us to understand, it’s often about us having faith in Him!! Israel, just like us at times, question Gods plan when we get to chapter 14.
Exodus 14:10-12 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord . [11] And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? [12] Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.
Too often we are looking at what we think is best, what we think is the shortest path to success or the easiest way out of our problem. Ever think to yourself, “God why am I doing this? Wouldn’t it be easier if just done this?” We are quick to forget at times that God knows best and He is on our side. Moses had to remind the people of this.
Exodus 14:13-14 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord , which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. [14] The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
We struggle and go thru a lot of things unnecessarily due to our lack of faith. It takes us longer to accomplish things in our life because we choose what we think is easy or shortest way. This then leads to battles that we didn’t foresee. God knows those battles are ahead and that’s why He may lead us in a different way than what we think is best. When we just trust Him we will get to where He wants us to be in His perfect timing. It’s that perfect timing that turns out to be a shorter timetable than when we do it on our own.
May God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
