Mar. 23 Devotion: He Lifted Me Out

He Lifted Me Out

Psalm 40:1-3

I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. [2] He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. [3] And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

These verses describe the horrible place where the sinner lives. Because David cried unto the Lord, and waited on the Lord, God delivered him out of the place he was dwelling. The Bible says that there is pleasure in sin for a season. but seasons are short. What a miracle that happens when a person gets delivered. He first gets delivered out of the muck and mire he was living in. Then he gets a firm foundation to stand on. While the whole world is falling apart his life is standing tall in the Lord. Then he has a standard and a purpose in life. David says that he established his going. A new way of living, a new way of thinking. The one who gets delivered gets a new song. The Bible says that old things are passed away, all things are become new. When deliverance comes everything changes. The places you go, the people you hang out with. The purpose of your life changes. Thank God for the day he delivered me out of the mire.

May God bless you,
