March 15 Devotion: Repitition or Persistent

Repetition or Persistent

Matthew 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do : for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

How would you say your prayer life is? Do you have a list you just go through each time? Do you get in your prayer closet and just talk with the Lord? Are you then repetitious or persistent? There is a difference. Our text verse here talks about vain repetitions. Think about a prayer list you may have. Do you just read it off, or do you make each thing on that list personal? Does it mean the same if you are just reciting words time after time? When it gets to the point like you’re only praying cause you feel like you are supposed to. Read the first 8 verses of Luke chapter 18. Do we go to God continually like it talks about in vs 7? Are we taking our prayers to him in tears? You may not be in tears, but do you come in a heavy heart? Are you burdened for your requests? That’s the difference between persistence and just vain repetition. Prayer is one of the most important things we can do. Do we take it as serious as we should? Don’t allow yourself to get caught up in vain repetitions.

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
