March 19 Devotion: Could You Have Been A Pen?

Could You Have Been A Pen

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Today’s devotion is a little different and will require you to use your imagination a little. I was listening to some preaching this week about the Gods unmerited grace. As I deliberated on that grace it God led me to a thought from our text verse here today. We know that Gods Word was God inspired. He used men to pen what He inspired and has now preserved it for us over all these years. Could you have been one of those pens? I believe our quick answer would be absolutely. What a blessing and honor it would’ve been to be used of God in that manner thousands of years ago. However, as I look at society today I wonder if we could’ve been used. We have a society that desires too much to be right. When someone tries to explain something to us we tend to already have our minds made up with what we believe to be the truth. We’ve already developed a plan in our minds to “fix” the issue. Regardless off the facts we may be presented with we have something ingrained into our minds on how we think things should be. We confuse our opinion for fact. Think about in scripture where God instructs Joshua on how to tell the people they will take down the walls of Jericho. What would be your response be in that situation? Would you instruct the people to circle the city daily and then seven times on the seventh day? Or in your mind would it “give up your presence” so to speak to do that? Therefore, you decide we’ll just do it all in one day so they won’t have as many days to figure it out. There are times we are quick to argue or make sure our own thoughts are inserted because we just believe we are in the right and nothing will convince us otherwise. Could you have been used as pen for God or is it too much about you?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
