May 20 Devotion: A Pattern of Good Works

Titus 2:11-15- For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, [12] Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; [13] Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; [14] Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. [15] These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee. *in these verses we find… A. Salvation Brought! -v. 11 B. Godly Living Taught! -v. 12 C. Jesus’ Coming Sought! -v. 13 D. Sinners Bought! -v. 14a E. Purification Wrought! -v. 14b F. Opposition Fought! -v. 15 A Pattern of Good Works! -v. 7

 Note: a pattern is a guide or an example. I Tim. 4:12- Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. *we’re to have a pattern of good works in… 1. The Scriptures! -v. 7a *we’re to… -Learn them -Live by them -be a Luminary for them (shine & teach others) 2. Significance! -v. 7b (Gravity) -Importance (a weight/ burden in our life) -Integrity (moral character) -Incorruptible (blameless) 3. Sincerity! -v. 7c Trustworthy (accountable, faithful) Truthful (honest) Tested (authentic, genuine, real)

4. being Sound! -v. 8 -Stable -Sensible -Solid -Spiritual! Our life is to be the measuring stick for Christianity in the Church and especially in our daily walk! What pattern are you displaying? -Pastor Doug Foster
