What Does God Want From You?
Deuteronomy 10:12-13
[12] And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, [13] To keep the commandments of the Lord , and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?
Ever ask God what He wants out of your life? There is a specific will God has for each of us to do, but today I just want to focus on general things God wants us to do. There are 5 things here Moses shares with Israel that would do us a lot of good to also follow.
1. Fear God
Not being scared of God, but reverencing Him!
Hebrews 12:28-29
[28] Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: [29] For our God is a consuming fire.
2. Walk in His ways
Thinking of that Footprints in the Sand poem:if someone was to follow your steps in this world where would they be led? Do we walk after God or after the world?
3. Love Him
Do you love Him? We will say yes, but does our life show it? Do we aspire to be more like Him, aspire to learn more about Him, or do we aspire for things of this world?
4. Serve Him with all heart and soul
This seems rather simple. Serve Him!! Not when it’s convenient, not after something else, and not just when we feel like it. God should come first in our lives!
5. Obey His commandments
This is where all these things become difficult. It’s not man’s commandments, and it’s not what a Pastor or association says. It’s about obeying God!
God just wants some simple things from us. It’s us who clouds things up. Man will make up certain rules that contradict God, will get too caught up in religion and not God. We can use all the “yeah buts” we want, but truth is there is nothing we may face that God hasn’t already equipped us for. Therefore, these things above are things that we can accomplish in our lives. If we want to see God use us or do a work in our lives we must first do these simple things. Moses called them requirements yet we want to treat them as optional.
God bless you today!
