May 22 Devotion: Powerful Love

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

1 Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

1 Corinthians 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

1 John 4:7-8

7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Love is something that is bigger than words can describe. It moved God towards sinful man so that he made a way for redemption. It moved Jesus Christ to endure the sufferings of the cross. It moves man to look beyond the faults and failures of those around us and have compassion on them. It binds a husband and wife together. It unites a local church in their relationship with God and with each other. All my attempts to explain how wonderful and powerful it is fall short. “Love is of God” and “God is love”. That is why it is so difficult to define for it is infinite in nature. God’s love is “an everlasting love”. So, let us submit ourselves to God that we might manifest this amazing, powerful love.
