May 23 Devotion: Acknowledging

Acknowledging

Psalm 51:3

For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

I challenge you to next time you’re out around people to just try to look their way and offer a smile. You’ll be surprised to how many will just not acknowledge you at all. We live in a world that just refuses to acknowledge anything. We won’t acknowledge when we’re wrong. We won’t acknowledge when we need help. We fail to acknowledge our faults, etc.

We also fail to acknowledge at times when we need to get right with God. In our text we see David acknowledge his transgressions, as well as the fact that his sin was going to change his life and family going forward. David knew what he had done was wrong, and he asked God to forgive him. We know God forgave him and still used David greatly going forward.

When we see these types of situations in the Bible why then do we find it so hard to get right with God? Instead of acknowledging where we fall short or have sin in our life we instead offer up excuse. You might’ve though before that no matter what I’ve done I’m not as bad as so and so. Possibly you’ve had the thought during preaching that you sure wish a certain person was there or sure hope someone was listening cause they really needed the message. Oftentimes we want to point fingers because we aren’t living in "wicked" sin, so we fail to acknowledge any sin at all. God don’t place sin in categories the way we do. Sin is sin:

James 4:17

Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Are you desiring Gods presence in your life and in our services? Be willing to acknowledge any sin and your life. Get it made right with God. Acknowledge how much more of His presence you need and desire.

God bless
