May 25 Devotion: Someone Worth Remembering

Someone Worth Remembering

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Many look at this weekend as nothing but a holiday that gives them a long weekend. This is a holiday that we should take time to remember and be thankful for those that have laid down their lives for the freedoms we enjoy. Most people I’ve ever talked to who have served did so in order to serve their country. Some have enlisted never truly believing they’d end up in war. However, there is one who knew exactly what he was doing. One that left heaven, took on a body of flesh, faced things that we can’t even imagine, all to give His life for us. He knew the times we would fail Him, He knew those that would spit in His face, those that would refuse to believe. He then not only laid down His life for us, but still calls us His friends even knowing all He did. We are quick to call on God when we need help, and there are times we will reflect on the blessings He has bestowed upon us. How often do we stop and truly remember what Jesus went through for us? The mocking, the ridicule, the torture, all things that He endured for us! As you take time today to deservingly remember those who have served our country, don’t forget to remember all that Jesus endured for us!!

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
