May 29 Devotion: Do YOU Think He Can?

Do YOU Think He Can

Ephesians 3:19-21 [19] And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. [20] Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, [21] Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

We hear verse 20 referenced very often in discussions on what God can do. To start today I want to look at the two words exceeding and abundantly. You can find different definitions of each word. Exceeding you can find great, more than, and also beyond. When it comes to abundantly you can find over and above, more than expected, surpassing, among others. Regardless of what definitions you want to use it all comes down to the same thing. God can do things well beyond what we can imagine. Next we see those two words follow by what seems like a very simple phrase: “above all that we ask or think.” No doubt the first part of that we all will do. There are many things that we will ask God to do. Save the lost, bless our family as well as others, even ask Him to send revival. However, what about the second part of that? Do you think He can do those things? Is our asking for those things just lip service on our part or do we truly believe and think God can do those things? Asking is one thing, but truly thinking He can and trusting Him to do is something completely different. Will you show up this next Lords day thinking and expecting He can do something extraordinary or will you just ask, but show up expecting the same normal routine?

God bless you today!
