May 4 Devition:Too Emotional

Too Emotional

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 [16] Rejoice evermore. [17] Pray without ceasing. [18] In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Always rejoicing, always praying, thankful in everything! Why do we find it so hard to put these things in practice? When things are going well we find it easy to follow these things. However, when things aren’t going the way we want that’s when we find it harder to put all these into practice. We might pray at that point, but we find it hard then to be joyful or thankful. Too often we allow our emotions to rule our day. Our joy, our prayer life, and our thankfulness should not be tied to our emotions. When was last time you had a terrible day, and when someone asked you how your day was you responded with:Well, it’s been a lousy day, but praise God He is still on the throne, and it’s going to be ok. When was last time you prayed for that person that has you beyond mad? When was last time you prayed for guidance in those things that YOU think you know best? Or when have you been thankful for that trial or been thankful while in the valley. It will take a conscious effort on our part, but if we would practice these things then we would begin to see others in a different light. We would have a complete different outlook on our lives! Today, don’t let the world steal your joy, keep that attitude of prayer, and be thankful for whatever God allows to come your way.

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
