May 5 Devotion: Finding Favor with God

Finding Favor With God

Luke 1:27-31

To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. [28] And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. [29] And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. [30] And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. [31] And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

The word favor means to indue with special honor or to make accepted. To find favor with God means that good things are going to happen to you. In Genesis 18 Abraham was the first person in the Bible who was described as finding favor, but he wasn't the first person who found favor with God. Adam and Eve found favor because God showed them grace in the garden and provided them a covering for their sin. All through the Bible there are people who found favor with God. Noah found favor and was instructed to build a ark to the saving of his family. Just imagine if you were the only one who found a way out of the wrath of God. Christians aren't better than anyone else they are better off. Think about Mary. She looked like all the other Jewish girls, but there was something special living inside her: the son of the living God. The day that a sinner gets saved the Holy Ghost moves into that person's life. The Holy Ghost will lead and guide you. I have never talked to God face to face but I have talked to him heart to heart.

May God bless you
