Working Sin Into Our Life
2 Timothy 3:1-5
[1] This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. [2] For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, [3] Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, [4] Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; [5] Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
Verses we often refer to when talking about just how close we are to the return of Christ. It seems as if everywhere we look we can find people that fit one or more of these examples. Unfortunately, all we have to do is look in the mirror when it comes to some of these things. Especially when it comes to the end of verse 4 and all of verse 5. How often do we see those that have that “form of godliness.” Yet those people are more interested in the pleasures of this world rather than the things of God. It becomes very concerning when you hear people explain away why they can’t do the things that God would have us to do. Whether it’s attending church, reading our Bible, sharing the Gospel, etc.. People seem to continually make excuse as to why they sin. We can try to sugar coat it and call it what we want, but when we are doing things contrary to God’s Word it is sin. Instead of calling it sin we see people just work it into their life, explain it away, and act as if it’s no big deal.
We can continually call it whatever we want, but we still will one day give an account to God for all we’ve done. Do you have sin in your life today that you are trying to just explain away?
God bless you today!
