Nov 2 Devotion: This Evil World

This Evil World

Romans 12:19-21

[19] Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. [20] Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. [21] Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Some very tough verses in God’s Word. Forgiveness takes more than just words. Words are easy to say, but actions are what prove our words. In no way are we looking to feed nor give drink to our enemies. We look to avoid them at all costs most of the time.

However, what if we did put vs 21 into practice? This world is full of evil, and Christians shouldn’t be adding to it. This doesn’t mean we are to be a doormat for people. We can show the love of Christ without being a doormat. We can partake in conversation with them. Find things that you may have in common instead of finding things to argue about. We also can pray for them and our relationship with them. If we believe prayer works, then if we’d pray it might just soften their heart, or possibly show us an avenue to have conversation with them.

Start today praying for your enemies. Start today asking God what part you can partake in of overcoming evil with good!

God bless you today!
