Nov 20 Devotion: What Do We Hear?

What Do We Hear?

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

I’m guessing we’ve all been in the situation where we know someone is talking, yet we don’t really hear them. It may not always be selective hearing as we refer to it at times. Now along those lines have you ever watched an instructional video on something? You have the video playing, but in your mind you think it’s a waste of time. Then when it’s time to do the task you have to rewatch the video because you don’t know as much as thought and you didn’t pay attention the first time through. Apply that same thought now to our everyday lives. Have you ever sit in a church service and it’s obvious the preacher is preaching yet our minds are a million miles away. We aren’t hearing anything he is telling us from the Word of God. Then the Pastor is first person we want to run to when we encounter a storm in our life. All the while had we heard the preaching in the first place we would have the faith and be equipped to get through what may be going on in our life. God has something for each of us in every message He has given the man of God. Yet, too often we lack the faith we need cause we’ve failed to hear what God has for us from His Word. We get to thinking about worldly things rather than setting our affection on things above. I challenge you to come into services the next time with all your focus on worshiping God. Ask God to clear your mind and just focus on what God has for us. It’s no telling what God might do for us if we were to leave all our problems and concerns at home and just come in focused on God!

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
