Nov 22 Devotion: Perpetual Peace

Isaiah 26:3 “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”

Tomorrow will mark the official beginning of “The Holiday Season,” meaning that the majority of our lives will be turned into a maelstrom of events, gatherings, unrelenting traffic jams, and masses of people. It is very easy this time of year to become so busy that we experience abnormal levels of stress in our daily life. Regardless of the time of year, there’s a permanent way to relieve your stress and His name is the Lord.

Here Isaiah explains that the person whose mind is stayed upon the Lord will be kept in perfect peace because of their trust in the Lord. Whenever we feel overwhelmed, or our nerves are shot, the simplest way to alleviate the symptoms is to stay your mind upon the Lord. We can have Perpetual Peace by keeping our mind stayed on:

1) Songs that Glorify Him;

2) Scripture; and,

3) The Supply of Blessings He daily gives.

The next time you’re stuck in traffic, just start listening to or singing your favorite song about the Lord. If you truly sing it from your heart, you’ll be upset when your car ride ends because of the worship you had in your car.

If you’re hunting for Black Friday deals and the crowds start scratching away at your sanity, remember how Jesus sought you out with an everlasting love and bought your soul out of sin.

If your family begins to irritate you or if those around you begin to aggravate you, set your mind on the countless blessings you have been given by God and remind yourself that without God’s grace you’d be in this situation without a hope for tomorrow.

As you undertake the daunting task of wrapping presents for all your loved ones, remember that Jesus wrapped you in his loving arms the day he saved you and has never let go.

When our mind is stayed upon the Lord, we show him that we truly trust him in ever situation to be our Bright And Morning Star. We look to Him for comfort and stability and The Prince of Peace rewards our faith by bestowing our heart and mind with the Peace of God.

Happy Early Thanksgiving.

Your fellowservant in Christ,

Bro. Jordan Foster
