Nov 25 Devotion: The Strength He Displayed on the Cross!

John 19:16-18- Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.

17 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:

18 Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.

The Strength He Displayed on the Cross!

*notice the…

  1. Poise He showed!

John 19:25-27– Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.

26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!

27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

  1. Pain He endured!  (the battle with Satan)

Ps. 22:12-13– Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.

13 They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.

  1. Pardon He gave!

Luke 23:42-43– And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

  1. Passion He displayed!

Luke 23:34– Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.

  1. Price He paid!

Heb. 9:11-12– But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

  1. Perception He had!  (He saw us!)

John 17:20– Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

Jesus shows us that in the most tumultuous of circumstances there’s strength from the Glory World to help us endure and overcome for God’s Glory. As Christians, we’re to be Christlike and set the same example for those who God has placed in our lives. How can we you may ask? Through the strength of the cross! –Pastor Doug Foster
