Nov 4 Devotion: Looking For Opportunity

Looking For Opportunity

Matthew 26:14-16

[14] Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, [15] And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. [16] And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

Here we have scripture dealing with the beginning of Judas’s betrayal of Jesus. There are many things we could look at out of these verses. Including how much less than thirty pieces of silver we are willing to sell him out for. However, I want to focus on verse 16 and that word opportunity. Think about Judas for a moment. He had the best pastor and leader, yet here he is looking for an opportunity to betray The Lord. What kind of opportunities do we look for and take?

Do we look for opportunity to spread the Gospel or to spread gossip?

Do we look for opportunity to be a stepping stone or to be a stumbling block?

Do we look for opportunity to lift others up or to leave them in the dumps?

I could continue to ask various questions, but hopefully you get the understanding of the points I’m trying to make. Each day we are faced with opportunities to do something. It’s up to us in deciding to either use that opportunity to live more Christ like, or use that opportunity to live more worldly. What do you do with those opportunities?

God bless you today!
