LORD SAVE MY CHILDREN
Matthew 2:18 In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.
Luke 23:28 But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
Mark 10:14 But when Jesus saw it , he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them
Everyone who will read this devotion has someone they know that needs salvation. Whether it be a friend, a coworker, a spouse, or loved one. Today I want us to get a fresh love and burden for our children, and or someone else’s children! I was able to meet someone Sunday at the nursing home that was absolutely broken over her daughter who is hooked on drugs. As I spoke to this woman, she could not stop crying and she just wanted some answers as to how her daughter was ever going to get clean. It took me a few moments to even gather myself as I tried to place myself in her shoes for just a moment and that is when the Holy Spirit broke my heart.
The Lord began to show me that there are thousands of these mothers and parents who do not know what to do or where to turn. Then I began to think about every Wednesday night in our church, how folks who have children that our lost and/or wayward ask for prayer. Then the Lord brought to my attention every man and woman at the jail every week that we meet; they have parents; they are someone’s children. As I listened to this woman pour her heart out to me, I was overwhelmed with a burden to see the God of heaven move on her behalf.
I’m sure that if you have children who are lost or in a far country away from God, you have prayed this prayer, “LORD SAVE MY CHILDREN”! My dear brother or sister, please do not give up! Don’t back up one inch, and don’t let up on your absolute rock solid trust that the Lord is going to move on your behalf. HE loves you and your children, as we see in the verses above. HE sees your weeping and hears your prayer. Keep showing them your love for them and your love for Jesus! It is ok if they see you moved to tears out of a broken heart in front of them. Let them hear you pray, and see and feel your compassion for them. The Holy Spirit will be doing HIS work that only HE can do. I will leave you with a quote from Charles Spurgeon that lit a fire in my soul.
“If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and un-prayed for.”
Today, wrap your arms around your children, show them you love them, and as many times as it takes, ask HIM one more time, LORD SAVE MY CHILDREN!
