Oct 14: A Refusal Of God

A Refusal Of God

1 Samuel 8:19 Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us;

We see here the Israelites refusal to obey God in not having a king. You could try to make up excuses or reasons on why it might’ve been a good thing, but the truth in verse 20 tells us their reasoning was simply they wanted to be like other countries.

1 Samuel 8:20 That we also may be like all the nations; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles.

Have you ever made a decision based upon someone else? It’s one thing to seek advice from someone, but that’s different than following that advice without seeking God in that decision. When going to others they may not share the same values as we do. We all have friends who don’t attend a true Bible believing church. How then can we expect to get soundly, God-led advice from them? God’s word may not lay out in black-and-white, answers to all of our problems. However, it will give us peace in our decisions that we make when we seek His guidance. Whether those are spiritual or personal decisions, we should seek Him first. He may very well lead us to someone who has dealt with the same thing we are facing. When we don’t, it’s just a plain refusal to obey God in seeking Him!

God bless you today!
