Oct. 2 Devotion: You’re Not Walking Alone
You’re Not Walking Alone
Isaiah 43:2
When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
Notice what God doesn’t say in this verse. He doesn’t say if you pass through the waters. He says WHEN.
Being a Christian doesn’t mean we won’t face difficult days. There will be times when the waters rise, the way gets difficult, and we simply don’t know what tomorrow holds. These are times when we may even wonder where God is in the middle of everything we’re facing, but look at His promise: “I will be with thee.” Sometimes we want God to remove the water when He simply promises to walk through it with us. We want Him to change our circumstances, while He may be using those circumstances to change us. The trial that feels overwhelming today may be the very thing God uses to strengthen our faith and draw us closer to Him.
Think about how many times God has already brought you through something that at the time you wondered how you would ever make it through. The same God who was faithful then hasn’t changed.
Hebrews 13:5 reminds us, “…for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
Whatever you’re facing today, you don’t have to face it alone. You may not know how the situation will end. You may not understand why God has allowed it. You may not even see the next step clearly, but you can know this:
You’re not walking alone, so keep walking and keep trusting.
The One who promised to be with you is still right there.
God bless,
Bro. Josh Richardson
