Oct 22 Devotion:What’s On Your Mind?

What’s On Your Mind

Philippians 4:8

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

A simple command this verse contains at the end. “Think on these things.” These are the things that when we think on them can give us the peace of God referred to in the verse before and after.

Philippians 4:7,9

[7] And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. [9] Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

However, we can only think on things that we put in. We can’t continually focus on things of this world, and look at things of this world and then expect to have Godly thoughts. When we only put the world in, it not only consumes our thoughts, but it’s also what comes out our mouth in our conversation with others. Our conversation is one of the things that should set us apart from the world. That conversation can’t be Godly if we aren’t thinking Godly things. I’m not saying our conversation will always be about God necessarily, but it should be different than others. We shouldn’t be talking about others, putting others down, or spreading gossip. This all starts with the thoughts in our mind.

Ask yourself today what it is that you seem to focus on more? What are your thoughts consumed with throughout your day?

God bless you today!
