Read It Again
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
As someone who likes golf there are times when I’ll go to the driving range. There you will just continually hit golf balls. There are times when you will do this in order to know the distances you hit each club. Another reason to go is to try to repeat the same swing over and over. This isn’t just done to help make a perfect swing, but also to know how to fix a swing that has gotten off. Think of our text verse. If you come across John 3:16 during a devotion or daily reading how often are you likely to just move past it quickly? It’s probably the most well know verse there is. You’ll see it everywhere, and we know the importance of it. Have you ever truly studied it? Completely broke it down word for word so that if we see someone use it can we explain it in depth? What about the rest of God’s Word? How much of it do we look at as familiar and tend to just gloss over it cause we “know” it. When we are instructed to study God’s Word it isn’t just to learn it for ourselves. We should know it so that we can explain it to others when they have questions. If someone says something about it that’s wrong do we know enough to correct them? We should never get comfortable in God’s Word. We should all realize there is so much we still have to learn. There is still so much we can use to help and reach others. So the next time you come across something you’ve read hundreds of times before: read it again. Then read it again. Read it again, and you never know what God might show you out of it!
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
