Oct 30 Devotion: Yea and Amen

2 Corinthians 1:19-20

19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea.

20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

Have you ever heard someone say they needed to weigh the pros and cons of a situation so they could come to a conclusion? Maybe you have done that very thing. You examined the positives, compared that to the negatives, and decided which one outweighed the other. I find something very interesting in the above passage from 2 Corinthians. In Christ, there is no negative. In him, there is no “yea and nay”, but only “yea”. There is no downside to knowing Christ as your Savior.

Consider this. In Christ, you get redemption, reconciliation, restoration, relationship, forgiveness, pardon, cleansing, salvation, justification, sanctification, glorification, a new body, a new life, a new future, a new family, a new home, and you are a new creature. You have eternal life, fellowship, victory, adoption, indwelling, sealing, purpose, access, power, spiritual gifts, and security. You are no longer aliens and strangers but have become members of the body. You can bring glory to God and have the great privilege of service. You know we can’t exhaust this list because in him, we get him, and he is almighty, omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent, holy, righteous, perfect, without darkness, and all together lovely. We are complete in him. (Colossians 2:10)

So, this truth begs the question, why would someone not receive Jesus Christ as their Savior? There is no downside. There is no “nay” in Christ. There is no better way. It is a question that has no answer that makes sense, but most do not know him. They are deceived and blinded. Let us pray for the souls of men and (if you know Christ as your Savior) rejoice for your relationship in him is “yea, and in him Amen”.
