Sept 14 Devotion: Pleaser or Perturber

Pleaser Or Perturber

Exodus 4:14 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.

Do you think the Lord has ever been angry with you? Have you ever been like Moses here? If you read the first 13 verses here you see Moses continually make excuses why he can’t do what God is asking Him to do. God demonstrates His amazing grace and wonderful long-suffering here! How many of us when we got to vs. 13 would just say: “Forget it, I’ll do it myself!” Have you ever seen someone be shocked by getting fired from a job? All the while you know they didn’t do their job correctly, didn’t show up when was supposed to, and constantly complained about the expectations of them? However, how often are we this exact way when it comes to things of God. Our bosses are typically pleased if we just show up when we are supposed to, and give our best in doing our job. God has a general will for all of us. Studying His Word, sharing His Word, showing up for the preaching of His Word. He also has a personal will for each of us. What is it that God wants you to do with your life for Him specifically? It’s possible you don’t know that yet, but are you seeking that answer? If these things please God, then what do you think perturbs Him? Ever complained about going to church? Ever think that you just got so many things to do that your time would be better spent at home? What about the preaching? Too long, too short, too loud, just couldn’t follow. If it’s His Word being preached then that should be all we are focused on. Too hard to always find time to read your Bible? Not enough time in the day to just spend some quiet time with Him in prayer? Always making excuses for why you can’t do something? Today, are you a pleaser or perturber of God?

God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
