Sept 18 Devotion: Consider His Works

Job 37:14 – “Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.”

How often do we get so preoccupied that we neglect to take stock of the works of God? How frequently do we meditate upon the wondrous things that God has done in the past? Regardless of when these acts were done, they still serve as eternal reminders of the majesty and power of our God.

When was the last time that you considered the rainbow? It seems strange to think that something so regular in the course of our life once was not a part of the world. Ponder the sincerity and grace in the covenant God made with Noah to never again destroy the world with water. Allow the realization that the next destruction is soon coming, and will be with fire, fill you with a zeal to tell others of the Salvation to such destruction.

Reflect upon the times that God has personally delivered you. Whether those deliverances were from sin, self, or situations they should still speak volumes of the love that God has for you.

Take stock of the immense journey the Word of God made through language, culture and persecution to arrive in your life. Recount the times that the Bible stirred or pricked your heart to motion in an attempt to draw closer to God. Bring to remembrance the verses that have propelled you through the hardest storms.

Truly our God is wondrous! But what makes each instance even more wonderful is the knowledge that God would have done all those things (and the ones we will not be able to know until we get to Heaven) if you were the only one that ever accepted His Son as their savior.

Think on these things and let your admiration and thankfulness drive you to show your love for God in everything that do.

Your fellowservant in Christ,

Bro. Jordan Foster
