What Do You Give?
Acts 3:1-6 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. [2] And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; [3] Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. [4] And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. [5] And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. [6] Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
We all know the story of how this lane man was healed. If you read on you’ll find him walking and leaping and praising God! We could easily ask how often is that our reaction when God touches our lives, but I digress. When Peter tells this man to look upon him the lane man is expecting from Peter and John. We then see Peter give him something far greater than silver and gold in verse 6. That brings me to the question today: What do you give those around you? Do you give hope or a hard time? Do you share Christ with others so that they have that same hope of a future that we do? Do you give answers or leave people asking more questions? We all know this world is getting crazier each day. The Bible tells us this is going to happen. Do we share Scripture with those we come in contact with so that they too can see what is going on is talked about in Scripture? Do you show compassion or cruelty? We are not to be welcome mats for the world. However, we should show compassion to those around us. How much of the love of Christ do we show those around us? Peter and John gave this man what they had not related to silver and gold. What do you give?
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
