Are You Limiting God?
Psalm 143:10 Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.
Where do you go for guidance in your life? Have you ever prayed what David mentions here in vs 10, asking God to teach you what it is He wants you to do? Do you think you are exactly where God wants you, therefore you don’t need Him to teach you anything further?
I was recently asked if I have or had any goals of becoming a Pastor. My response didn’t come out the way I intended when I said that I don’t have any goals along those lines. It’s not that I don’t have goal, but I truly want to do whatever it is that God wants me to do in my life. I don’t want to allow my feelings or desires get in the way of whatever it is that God would have me to do. I talked about how much I thoroughly enjoyed where God had me at at this very moment. I feel blessed and honored to be able to do anything for Him. I feel so unworthy to be used by Him in this capacity, how could I ever expect a greater role. However, I also mentioned about how I thought pastoring could lead to a lot of headaches that I really did not know if I wanted in my life. It’s that statement that then begin to make me think about what God would have me to do in my life. I think we have a tendency to get very comfortable with where we are when it comes to what God wants in our lives. We can thoroughly enjoy where we are, and what God has us doing. In turn that can lead us into a very simple routine at times on how we want to do things, and what we have to do in order to get things done. However, that can then keep us from ensuring there isn’t something else God wants us to do? It’s easy to say that I’m right where God wants me, and doing what He wants me to do. If that is you, then I’m not trying to get you to question that. However, is that comfortability within your situation keeping you from asking God if there is anything else He wants you to do? When was the last time you sought God as it pertains to the will of you life? Whether it be something He wants you to do where you are, or perhaps leading you somewhere else? The fear of those two things are what keeps us from seeking God. Afraid that He’d ask us to do something we couldn’t handle, or lead us somewhere we don’t want to go. I do believe God would never lead us somewhere that He hasn’t already equipped us with the ability to do His will. We may not see it that way, but God’s ways are not our ways.
Don’t get so comfortable that you are limiting God and your availability to Him today!
God bless you today!
