Sept 23 Devotion: Jesus IS still there

“Jesus IS Still There” (Acts 16:14) And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us : whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.

(2 Corinthians 1:21-22) Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; [22] Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. (Galatians 4:5-6) To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. [6] And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. (Ephesians 3:17 a) That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; In the book of Acts above, the Lord opened the heart of Lydia and she began to worship! We see in the Scripture above, when someone gets born again by the Spirit of God, there are some things that take place! The Lord opens our heart, sends forth the Spirit of God into our heart, seals the Spirit in us, and then Jesus, through the Spirit, comes to dwell in our hearts by Faith! Go ahead and just shout on these truths from God’s Word! Hallelujah! The Phillips family sing a song that says, “it’s just like my heart opened and Jesus stepped inside!” That, my Christian friend, is exactly what happened when you got saved!

We recently received a letter at the church from an inmate at the jail named Tina. She had come forward and got born again in one of our services. She wrote to us to tell us that on April 16th, she asked Jesus to come into her heart. She said that since then, she has faced many struggles, but now she does not face them alone. She went on to say, “thank you for not giving up on a sinner like me.” What really caught my attention in the letter, was another statement she made that I will never forget. She said, “on April 16th I asked Jesus to come into my heart, and I know that HE IS still there now!” Let me tell you, when I read that, my soul did flip flops and I had myself a time in the Lord!

If there has ever been a time when the Holy Spirit convicted you and drew you to HIMSELF and stepped inside your heart and soul; I can say on the authority of the Word of God, I know HE IS still there! Today, may the Spirit and the Word give you the assurance that Jesus IS still there! May you feel His sweet presence in your heart and life today!
