Definition: CARNAL =
1. Pertaining to flesh; fleshly; sensual; opposed to spiritual; as carnal pleasure.
2. Being in the natural state; unregenerate. 3. Lustful; libidinous; given to sensual indulgence. Romans 8:7a Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: Romans 7:15-18 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. [16] If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. [17] Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. [18] For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
Today we really get down to where we live as Christians. We will continue some of the thoughts we have been studying for a few weeks, but we will be looking at them in a more personal way over the next few weeks. Above, we see Paul said, “The carnal mind is the enemy of God” James 4:4 says, “whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” So here is the thought… In a world that is so fleshly, lustful, full of sensual carnal desires, how are we to live as Christians??? How can we live as Christians when everywhere we turn there is carnal, sinful indulgence??? The billboards, the TV commercials, TV shows, and the messages in the music in every store we walk in??? The conversations our coworkers have in the workplace??? Above, Paul said, the things he WANTS to do, he does NOT do and the things he HATES, those are the things he does. He said in his flesh dwells NO GOOD THING! Over the next few devotionals we are going to answer Paul’s question in (V18). The scripture says, “for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. We will answer this question with the word of God. How can we perform that which is good and please the Lord in the day in which we live? How can we live holy and be a “True Christian in A Carnal world?” May the Lord Bless you in a special way today!
