Called To Suffering
1 Peter 2:19,25
For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. [25] For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
The definition of suffering is something undergone, hardship or pain. In the early church days people accepted the fact that if you accepted Jesus as your Saviour it would cost you something or even everything. In the early church there were persecuted and even put to death. While this was happening people were getting saved. In Acts 2 there were 3 thousand people added to the church. The truth is nobody wants to suffer. We would even go as far as to be like the world so we don't have to endure suffering. We are living in a church world that is so comfortable that we accept the same ideals as the world has. This may be the reason we are not seeing a lot of people get saved. The world can't see any difference between them and us. If Jesus is the example of the Christian. Remember the majority of the people didn't care for him, and he suffered for it even the death of the cross. The church might need a little persecution to cause them to come out from among them.
