We Esteem Him Not
Isaiah 53:3-5 [3] He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. [4] Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. [5] But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
As we embark on the weekend where the world will acknowledge the resurrection of Christ I wanted to take a look at these verses. We know He continues to be rejected by the world. If you are saved you acknowledge and believe that He “borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows.” There are many other verses we could have looked at, but God put these in my heart in reference to vs.3. It states at the end of that verse, “we esteemed him not.” That word esteem means to respect or admire. So I ask you:Do you esteem Him? Think of how we treat those that we respect or admire in this world. We treat them differently, we will seek their advice, listen to them. We just overall hold them in much higher regard than others. Do we do the same with Christ? We too often seek the world’s answers instead of His Word. We come into His House and treat it as if we are kicked back relaxing at home. The world this weekend will be consumed by a bunny and colorful eggs. However, as Christians know what this weekend truly represents and should act as such. When we remember where He found us, and realize the victory we have because of His resurrection this weekend we will come to service Sunday looking to show Him the reverential respect He deserves, and ready to worship!! The world will esteem a bunny this weekend, what about you?
God bless you today! Bro. Josh Richardson
