Exodus 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
A very simple commandment. A verse that we often look at and say I don’t worship any other gods. We think of Buddha, Mohammed or some other false god. However, ANYTHING that we place before God is our god and we do worship it more than the one true God. With that being said I want you to think back over this past week and ask yourself, what did I place before God this week?
1. Job Were you always on time and put forth your best effort? Did you do same for God? Did you set aside time with Him and not miss it? Did He have your undivided attention during that time?
2. Family Our family is very important, but they should not take place of God in our lives. We would do anything to help or protect our family. Did we do same thing this week for God? Did we defend Him if someone took His name in vain? What about getting His Word out? Did He ask us to do something this past week that we didn’t do?
3. Hobby It’s good to have fun, and nobody probably enjoys their hobby more than I love to play golf. We will research and put in time to be better at whatever it may be. What about investing time into being a better Christian?
4. Time What did you do with your time? We are always running 100 mph and need 5 extra hours a day and an extra day each week;so we think. Where are your priorities? It has amazed me when I think I have no time to get things done that if I spend time with God how other things just tend to fall in place. We should spend time with Him everyday, not just when we can fit Him in.
So looking back and being honest with yourself, do we really put nothing else before Him?
