Facing the Storms of Life

Mark 4:36-41

And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. [37] And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. [38] And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? [39] And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. [40] And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? [41] And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

Everyone will face storms in their life. The devil is pretty good at convincing us that we are the only ones going through storms. But if you look around, you'll see that everyone is, at some time, going through storms.

There are many types of storms. Family problems, financial problems, storms of sickness.

The most important thing is that you stay in the boat with Jesus. Storms can come from out of nowhere. I'm sure that the disciples knew enough about being fishermen that if the storms were bad, they would have stayed on the land. How quickly your life can be changed by a storm. There have been people who have lost everything they own in an hour's time due to a serious storm. The thing for us is we want to run or fix the storms ourselves. The truth is that we have no ability to fix anything in our lives. We'll need God and his grace to survive each and every storm.

May God bless you,

Bro. Ron Little
