The Little Things Added Up
2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
1 Thessalonians 5:17
Pray without ceasing.
Hebrews 10:25
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
For whatever reason, earlier this week I was doing some reflecting. I did some thinking back to things that I used to find important that now just don’t mean as much to me. Also, I looked back and thought about how many times we look for something major that brings back the most memories, but it’s often the little things. Getting to sit at the kitchen table with my memaw while she did a puzzle. Getting to just drive around with my papaw. I thought about playing baseball and my mom always there to cheer me on.
Then, thinking about my own kids. Their arrival, first steps, first words, etc. How all those little moments add up to such great memories. How important those little things really are!
Think of our 3 text verses today. I would not say that any of these are little in Gods eyes by any stretch. They do, however, do seem to be some little things that we could do that we have no idea how big things God could use it all for. These verses aren’t instructing us to do something supernatural or work some kind of miracle. Just to pray, study, and be faithful. Three simple things that most all of us have the ability to do. If you don’t have the mind to study or the physical ability to go to church, I believe God sees your heart and understands that.
What big things could God do if we were all faithful to some of the most simple things He’s instructed us to do?
God bless,
Bro. Josh Richardson
